Friday, April 17

  • Walnut Creek: Green Movie Night: The Story of Plastic –Join us for our 2026 Earth Day Celebration as the Green Movie Night series presents a screening of the impactful documentary The Story of Plastic. In collaboration with Sustainable Walnut Creek, this thought-provoking film explores the global plastic pollution challenge, how recycling systems evolved, and the broader forces shaping our relationship with plastic. Through compelling footage and creative storytelling, it invites us to better understand the issue—and consider what’s possible moving forward. 6pm. Walnut Creek United Methodist Church.

Saturday, April 18

  • Antioch: Keep Antioch Beautiful Cleanup – Join the City of Antioch and help beautify the community by volunteering to do trash cleanup at the community center or landscaping at the skatepark. After your hard work, enjoy a volunteer appreciation lunch. Volunteer 9-11am, lunch 11am-12pm. Waldie Plaza & Antioch Community Center.
  • Concord: City of Concord Volunteer Events – A series of hands-on volunteer events across the city offering residents a chance to support parks, plant trees, and help care for Concord’s urban forest. A great way to get outdoors, connect with your community, and make a visible impact on Concord’s green spaces. Sign the waiver to participate. 9am-12pm at the following locations:
    • Markham Nature Park (1202 La Vista Avenue): Mulch spreading + nature walk
    • Cambridge Park (1135 Lacey Lane): Mulching + tree planting
  • Pinole: Pinole Earth Walk – Walk for clean air, clean water, renewable energy, and the protection of our health and the countless species that share this Earth with us. Environmental partners will be on-site with activities and educational resources to inspire and empower action. The walking path is approximately 1.5 miles. The walk will begin and end in Fernandez Park, following a paved loop that goes along the Pinole Creek and Bay Trail. Free event. All are welcome. 9-11:30am. Fernandez Park.
  • Pittsburg: Earth Month Guided Facility Tour – During this guided Earth Month tour, you’ll go behind the scenes at Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery and gain rare access to areas most people never see. See firsthand how they collect and process materials and maximize recycling while minimizing landfilling. Register to attend. 8-10am. MDRR Education Center.
  • Richmond: North Richmond’s Earth Day: Wildcat Creek Cleanup – Help improve local green spaces, support a healthier environment, and connect with like-minded individuals to inspire collective action for a sustainable future. 9-11am. Lucky A’s Park, North Richmond.

Wednesday, April 22

  • San Pablo: Contra Costa College Earth Day – Discover sustainability-friendly resources, connect with local programs, and enjoy fun activities. 10am-1pm. Contra Costa College Main Quad Area.
  • Pleasant Hill: *Students Only* Diablo Valley College Earth Day. 12-2pm. DVC Commons.

Thursday, April 23

  • Pleasant Hill: Pleasant Hill Earth Day Celebration – Enjoy an evening of environmental demos and activities with the City of Pleasant Hill. More than a dozen vendors will set up alongside the great food trucks of Off the Grid to provide a fantastic night of family activities. There will also be live animal displays from Lindsey Wildlife, a demonstration hive from the Mt. Diablo Beekeepers, and more. 5-7pm. Pleasant Hill City Hall.

  • Concord: City of Concord Volunteer Events – A series of hands-on volunteer events across the city offering residents a chance to support parks, plant trees, and help care for Concord’s urban forest.     • Brazil Quarry Park (Kent Way): Fence repair, mulching + tree planting
    • Lime Ridge Open Space (3701 Treat Boulevard): Mulching, weeding + litter removal
    • Hillcrest Community Park (Grant Street & Olivera Road): Creek cleanup
  • El Cerrito: Earth Day Work Parties – You’re invited to join a work party and help beautify El Cerrito’s natural areas. The City will provide volunteers with gloves, bags and tools for their work party activity. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear sunscreen, and bring water bottles. Snacks will be provided. Choose from the following work parties:
    • El Cerrito Library Foundation Garden Clean-Up9am-12pm
    • El Cerrito Trail Trekkers Hillside Weed & Broom Pull – 10am-1pm
    • Fairmont Elementary School Garden Clean-up9am-12pm
  • El Cerrito: Earth Day Repair Workshop – Have an item that needs repair? Repair coaches will share their time, tools and expertise to consult with you on the disassembly, troubleshooting and repair of your broken items. Whether or not you fix it yourself, you’ll learn more about how your item was manufactured and how it works. Register your item ahead of time by filling out an Attendee Registration Form so that coaches can come prepared and reach out in advance if additional parts need to be procured. Registration closes Sunday, April 12th – Limit of Two (2) Items per Attendee. 1-4pm. El Cerrito Community Center.
  • Richmond: Point Pinole Invasive Plant Removal – Join the East Bay Regional Park District and help remove invasive plants from the Point Pinole shoreline. Register to attend. Bags, disposable gloves, and necessary supplies are provided. 9am-12pm. Giant Highway Staging Area, Richmond.

Sunday, April 26

  • Lafayette: Lafayette Earth Day Festival – Sustainable Lafayette will be hosting a free Earth Day Festival where you can learn how to help our planet. Enjoy family-friendly activities and connect with local eco-friendly businesses. 11am-2pm. Lafayette Plaza Park.

Wednesday, April 29

  • Pittsburg: *Students Only* Los Medanos College Earth Day. 11am-1pm.
