Four Reasons to Ride Transit on September 23

You might know that September is Transit Month, but did you know Tuesday the 23rd is All Aboard Transit Day? It’s the day transit agencies encourage people to ride their systems to experience recent service and customer experience improvements, including the Big Sync.

In addition to the usual reasons people choose transit – like saving money, not having to drive, and reclaiming commuting time for reading, working, or relaxing – on Tuesday there are a few more reasons to ride:

1. Prizes for Riding BART: On the morning of All Aboard Transit Day, BART staff will be stationed throughout the system to hand out special stickers to riders. If staff see you wearing the sticker later in the day, they’ll gift you some BART swag (while supplies last).

2. $10 Peet’s Coffee Gift Card: Tuesday, September 23, is a Spare the Air Day. To encourage people to take transit Tuesday, our Big Win on Transit program is awarding the first 100 people to log a Tuesday transit trip a $10 Peet’s gift card. If you’re 18+ and live or work in Contra Costa County, the first step is to sign up for Big Win on Transit. After taking a transit trip on Tuesday that goes to, from, or through Contra Costa, log it with the mobile-friendly Big Win dashboard by Sunday night. PRO TIP: You can log your trip the same day you take it, so the sooner you submit your trip, the better your chances of grabbing a gift card.

3. Free Rides on All WestCAT Lynx Buses: Lynx service turns 20 this month! To thank their loyal passengers, WestCAT is offering free rides on the Lynx through September. Just board the bus and ride free.

4. Transit Month Ride Contest: Sign up for the Ride Contest and log your transit trips to earn entries in prize drawings. Each transit trip is worth a raffle entry, so the more you take transit, the better your chances of winning. BONUS: Transit trips logged on WestCAT, Tri Delta Transit, or County Connection enter you in an additional raffle to win a $25, $50, or $75 Clipper card from 511 CCTA.

Riding transit offers a lot of benefits – not just on Tuesday, but every day. Our Incentives Page gives you a snapshot of available incentives and special offers, and the Incentives Finder will locate all the benefits and discounts for the type of commute you’re considering.
